Fire in Orange City, Iowa

The historical building that once housed Curves and Hannah’s Hallmark is now a charred carcass of a building. The fire started on Sunday evening at about 5 p.m.
I walked down last night to shoot some photos (coming soon). The ‘Hallmark Gold Crown’ sign is still intact a gentle reminder of its former glory.
This fire will change the face of downtown forever.

Thank you to Megan Zeutenhorst for the photos.

O What a Beautiful Morning

This was one of those Saturday mornings that you hope would happen daily. Izzo woke me up to ask to go on a walk. "Mommy, we need a girls walk. Shhhh... the boy's are still sleeping." (I find it humerous that it was just fine to wake ME up but the boys we needed to leave sleeping.

Instead of giving her cereal and popping in the customary Saturday morning Barney video, I pulled myself out of bed and into my running shoes.

The day was bright and clear, the kind of lighting any painter asks for. It was warm, but had such a crisp early morning breeze.

We skipped, hopped, jumped and danced all the way down to the bakery to find it was closed.

Then we skipped, hopped, jumped and danced to the grocery store for some donuts.

I carried the tired dancer home with me.

Later in the day Truman clapped and talked while Eric fed the chickens.

Here are four gorgeous hens and one studly rooster.

Tada I'm A Princess, the bantam on the far right, was appropriately titled. She knows she's special.

More chicken photos to follow and many more anecdotes... not enough hours in the day!

Etsy Shop

I finally opened my Etsy Shop! Bear with me as I try to learn how to navigate this new eStore!

It's been over a month since my last post, but I am not discouraged about my blogging abilities. I am a little discouraged about the amount of time that is slipping through my fingers.

Truman and Isabel are doing wonderful. They have even interacted on a non-hair-pulling level lately, which is so long overdue.

Having a conversation in the TeePee-- thanks Grandmommy. (Notice the long sleeves... this was weeks ago)

Here they are as close as I can get them together. Isabel insisted she could not "sit next to the BABY!" (I'd like to point out the baby is almost as big as she is).

And this is one for the record books. A picnic on an nice afternoon in the backyard.

Well for now, visit my etsy shop: theyellowdoorpaperie.etsy.com
